August 2007

I have to thank Denise DeTrano, President of the Sac Tri Club for introducing me to Total Body Fitness. Your organization is so knowledgeable and well-organized with such experts in coaching. They are right there when you need them with inspiration, knowledge and support. Mark Shaw, announcing the events adds his knowledge, humor, music, enthusiasm and tracking really encourages the athletes and makes you want to dance to the finish line. I have enjoyed being a part of your organization and I was ready to share my joy with my children. My son, Connor, is now eight and has felt he was ready to tri himself as he is so inspired by Mom's enthusiasm and workouts. On July 15, 2007, he finished his first triathlon Tri 4 Kids at Rancho Seco. Of course, he has now become a proud spirited team member of the Sac Tri Club with his own STC jersey. As his Mother, I am so proud of him and the excitement and enthusiasm on his face is a mirror to mine. My daughter, Nicole will be seven next year and has shown her interest in being involved as well.

As a parent, it is so rewarding to encourage a healthy lifestyle and volunteer for community services and being a part of TBF and STC has given that to us. The children were so enthused about the entire experience and Mom's volunteering that they initiated serving water bottles to the Tri 4 Real finishers and later wanted to bag and recycle the bottles as well. When I asked if they were ready to go and were getting tired to just let me know...they replied no, Mom, we're having fun! How exciting is that! It's all about having fun, encouraging a healthy lifestyle and making beautiful memories. Thank you for being a part of ours.

Well, I have to say another word of thanks to you and the Sac Tri Club.

Yesterday, I had a routine doctor visit and, of course, the routine blood pressure check with my visit. When I asked what my numbers were I could hardly believe, 116/67. Prior to teaming with the Sac Tri Club my blood pressure upon several visits over the past year and a half had turned into never before numbers of around 140/90 surely due to the past year and a half of transitional challenges going on in my life. I was so excited and told my doctor that I had joined a wonderful tri club, had been exercising more and finished my first triathlon in August, The Luna Bar, relayed in the Folsom Half Marathon. I have enjoyed this "high" of running, biking, swimming and club workouts over the past six months. My doctor said right off my blood pressure had lowered because of the exercise and diet. When I joined the Sac Tri Club my focus was to have a good time, get some of that "high" you have, and take care of me. Needless to say, I have found and committed to one more important way to enjoy life and as a result everything else has been falling into place.

Well, thank you again for introducing me to the club, your friendship, enthusiasm and sharing your "high".

Charise
